Questions & answers
Frequently asked questions
Common questions about how our practice works.
What does this website offer?+
It is an informational site introducing the practice of Prof. Dr. Burak Tatlı and his team. It explains the conditions we work with, our approach, and our team. It is for information only — an appointment is required for examination and treatment.
Which conditions do you see?+
Childhood neurological conditions — including epilepsy, developmental delay, autism, cerebral palsy, headache and migraine, muscle disorders, and the follow-up of at-risk infants, among others.
How do I make an appointment?+
Reach us by phone or WhatsApp and we'll arrange a suitable day at our practice in Şişli, İstanbul. Please bring any previous reports with you.
What happens at the first visit?+
We take a detailed history and perform a neurological examination to assess your child as a whole. Where needed, we then plan tests such as EEG, MRI, or genetics.
What should I bring to my appointment?+
Copies of previous tests and reports — MRI, EEG/EMG, and blood results — along with your child's medical history and a list of all current medications. You don't need to arrange any tests before arrival; if anything further is needed, it can be organised after the examination.
Are EEG, MRI, and genetic tests available?+
Yes. EEG is carried out at the practice; MRI and other imaging are arranged via a partner centre; and genetic testing and precision medicine (including whole exome / whole genome) are available where indicated.
What is the family portal?+
It is a secure area where we follow your child's growth measurements, developmental milestones, vaccination schedule, and medication together with you. You can also share your own home measurements and observations through it.
Do you offer online consultation?+
This is an in-person practice; examination, diagnosis, and treatment take place at our office in Şişli. The website is for information only and the family portal supports follow-up — it does not replace an examination.
Is my data kept private?+
Yes. Personal health data is processed securely under Turkey's KVKK (Personal Data Protection Law) and is accessible only to the people involved in your child's care. See our Privacy & KVKK page.
What languages do you work in?+
Our practice works primarily in Turkish. This website is available in Turkish, English, Arabic, Bulgarian, and Albanian. If you need support in another language, please let us know.
What does follow-up look like?+
After diagnosis and treatment are in place, we stay involved with regular review visits and continuous follow-up through the family portal, using the same measurement tools so progress is objective.
How much does a visit cost, and how can I pay?+
The consultation fee is shared with you when you book, as it depends on the type and length of the visit. Payment is made at the practice. As a private practice, we can also provide the documentation you may need for private health-insurance reimbursement.
How long does an appointment take?+
A first visit usually takes longer than a follow-up, because we take a detailed history and perform a full neurological examination. Please allow some extra time in case tests such as EEG are arranged on the same day.
When will my test results be ready?+
EEG and examination findings are usually discussed soon after they are done. Imaging (MRI) and genetic results take longer — from days to a few weeks depending on the test — and we review them with you at a follow-up visit or share them through the family portal.
